An IP lookup takes any public IP address and returns everything known about it: its geolocation (country, region, city and coordinates on a map), the ISP or organization that owns it, its ASN, its hostname (reverse DNS), timezone and currency — plus whether it looks like a proxy, VPN or datacenter IP. How to use this IP checker
When the page loads it automatically shows your own IP address and location (a quick "what's my IP"). To check a different one, type any public IPv4 or IPv6 address and press Look up. What is my IP address?
This page shows your own public IP and its location automatically the moment it loads — a built-in "what's my IP". That's the address websites see you from, unless you're on a proxy or VPN, in which case they see the exit IP instead.
How do I do a reverse IP lookup (find the hostname)?
Just enter the IP — the result includes its hostname via reverse DNS (the PTR record), alongside the ISP and ASN. Not every IP has a reverse DNS record, so the hostname field can be empty.
Can this IP checker detect a proxy or VPN?
Yes — each result flags whether the IP looks like a proxy/VPN, a datacenter/hosting IP, or a mobile carrier IP. It's a strong signal, not a guarantee: clean residential and mobile proxies are built to look like ordinary users, which is exactly why they pass where datacenter IPs get blocked.
What ISP and ASN does an IP belong to?
The lookup returns the ISP, the owning organization, and the ASN (autonomous system number) an IP is announced from — useful for spotting whether an address belongs to a home ISP, a mobile carrier, or a cloud/hosting provider.
How accurate is IP geolocation — can it find the exact location?
Country-level accuracy is very high; city-level is close but approximate. IP geolocation maps an IP to the network's registered area, not a precise street address — treat the city and coordinates as a neighborhood, not an exact pin.
Does it work for IPv6?
Yes — both IPv4 and IPv6 public addresses work. Private/reserved ranges (like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) can't be geolocated because they only exist inside local networks.
